Comments: The Glenn Curtiss was named after Glenn Hammond Curtiss who was born in Hammondsport, N.Y. in 1878. It is generally agreed that after Orville and Wilber Wright, Glenn Curtiss was the second most important name in aeronautical history. In 1907, Glenn Curtiss broke the world speed record and was known as "The Fastest Man on Earth." In addition, he had the honor of receiving the first US Pilot License #1 and his company was the creator of the famous Curtiss engine, one of the most successful early aeronautical companies and maker of the famous Curtiss-Jenny bi-plane.

Records indicate that Hamilton requested permission from Glenn Curtiss to name the watch after him. He consented shortly before his death in 1930, the very year the Glenn Curtiss wristwatch was introduced.

The Glenn Curtis is an extraordinarily rare and desirable Hamilton. It was cased in a "hand made" case and sold for $150.00, an astronomical price during the Great Depression.

Two dial configurations were offered with the Glenn Curtiss, raised gold figures (as shown above) and luminous numerals.
