Comments: The Langley was produced in solid yellow and white 14K gold with an additional five 18K gold Langley's having been manufactured for Tiffany and Co. The Langley is considered to be a classic and is a favorite amongst Hamilton collectors. It was offered in two case variation, a two-piece construction manufactured by S&W and this example which utilizes a unique three-part case manufactured by Solidarity that is hinged and allows for easy access to the movement.  The S&W two-piece case construction is the rarer of the two variations.

The 1933 Hamilton Catalog shows the Langley being sold with the 979 19-jewel movement for $100.00 - a $10.00 increase over the 987 17-jewel movement, the movement it was originally introduced with.

The "gold inlayed" dial on this particular Langley is less common than the more typical "raised gold numeral" or "luminous figure" dials that were significantly more popular with consumers. This particular Langley utilizes the Hamilton 19-jewel 979 movement.
